SYNOD OF BISHOPS FOR MIDDLE EAST

Special Assembly for the Middle East

"The Catholic Church in the Middle East:

Communion and Witness.

'Now the company of those who believed

were of one heart and soul'

(Acts 4, 32)"

A Presence, An Encounter, and Service!

For its Greek-roman archeology, its Christian remains of the first centuries, its attraction of the desert and the modern look of its cities with its Arabic Muslim identity, Libya offer to all a rich human and cultural experience. The respect for the guest and the religiosity of the Libyan people allows all Christians here in Libya, to profess their own faith.  Catholics have two places of worship in Tripoli and Benghazi. The priests give their services to more than 80,000 Christians from different nationalities and to about 100 nuns who are working in hospitals and health centers in various places.
